In general, Charleston serves as a perfect backdrop for wedding photography that is both elegant and upbeat. Nestled directly off of the hustle and bustle of King Street, the William Aiken House offers a wedding experience that is uniquely Charleston. Historic charm is dripping from the interiors of every room, each seemingly more stunning than the next. However, one of the most amazing aspects of this venue is its ability to seamlessly transition from indoor elegance to the natural beauty of the courtyard for a continued celebration beneath the open sky. Take a beautiful setting like this and pair it with the breadth of emotions and moments a wedding day has to offer…pure magic.

Kelsey & Evan wanted me to really lean into the documentary approach to their wedding weekend. Beginning with a rehearsal dinner at Leon’s Oyster Shop and ending with a New Orleans-style second line to a roaring after party at Baba’s on Cannon…and of course with the nuptials in between. Approaching wedding photography with no expectations and solely focusing on capturing genuine moments is a beautiful and authentic way to document a couple's special day. This allows me to create a more spontaneous, emotional, and candid record of the wedding, often resulting in some of the most meaningful, heartfelt, and personal photographs. Personalities are damn near leaping out of the image in some of these photos, and that’s what I love more than anything in a photograph.

When imagining a southern dream wedding, I feel what most envision is precisely what Middleton Place delivers. Massive oaks draped in Spanish moss, elaborate gardens, historic structures, animals freely roaming the property, and absolutely breathtaking views along the Ashley River.

Katie & Zach hosted brought their closest family and friends together in Charleston for a wedding day that was not only a celebration of their love and devotion to each other, but an amazing experience immersed in the all of the beauty and scenery of the lowcountry.

Where do I even begin with this wedding!?

Melissa & Thomas invited their closest friends and family out to Isle of Palms for their absolute smash of a beach house wedding. With the lowcountry’s finest weather in full effect and Thomas’s Volkswagen acting as a self-serve bar for guests, there was no doubt that everyone had an amazing evening ahead of them.

After an beautiful poolside ceremony, the sun began to set and just WOW. Lasting well over an hour, this was perhaps one of the most relentless sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. Add some live music, great people, and a killer spread by the Charleston staple, Home Team BBQ - what was there not to love about this wedding?
